Two nice match days in a row. Someone up there must be looking out for me.

Here are a few pictures. Karl was kind eough to let us use his newly restored duce and a half. The first shooting position in stage 1 was from the back of the truck. Very cool!

Stage 1 - pigs must die before the chickens.

Was it prone shooting from the truck bed? Is that a Jimmy or a Studey? I always wanted one as long as someone else maintained it!

Not sure who manufactured that one. People were free so shoot any way they wanted to out of the truck. Most stood. I kneeled and rested against the side boards.

Here's a tip I learned at the shoot - be careful using chamber empty flags in an MP5SD! I supply and require the use of chamber empty flags at my matches. Turns out that they are long enough to reach the barrel ports in the MP5SD barrels. That area gets very hot and melted the tips of the flags on both of the MP5SD's being shot. One was actually stuck in place and had to be tapped out with a cleaning rod. (No damage to the gun.) If you use flags in an integrally suppressed barrel, either shorten the flag or stick it through the mag well instead of the barrel.

That seems to be common. We insert the chamber flags down through the mag well instead of in the chamber now. I had one melt in my M11 last year at Knob Creek and we had one melt in an Uzi at our June match.

Dave; I think it's great that people like you are putting together subgun matches. I'll bet the number of matches held around the country has doubled over the last five years largely because of people like you and Chili17 stepping up and filling that need. It takes a lot of work and dedication to put an idea into action and I wish you continued success.

Thanks for the photos. Looks like a very target rich environment!

Dave what chamber flags are you using? We have been using the boonie packer ones and they have been very good at not melting in the chamber.

If we have a bay that is very long that gets the gun real hot we use a safe bench that is located at the begining of a bay facing the dirt bank you can put the chamber flag in the magwell and leave the gun on the safe bench with the muzzle facing the dirt and let it cool and then move the flag into the chamber..

That's the same one I'm using. We didn't have a problem with them melting in the chamber, only by the porting farther down the barrel. Even on a short stage (2-3 mags), the port area is hot enough to melt those flags. I think I'll just shorten up the flags a bit, at least for the SD guns.
